Stable Diffusion: Unlocking the Secret Text Prompts for Amazing AI Designs

Stable Diffusion: Unlocking the Secret Text Prompts for Amazing AI Designs
Created with Midjourney.

Prompt engineering is an emerging field that lets you explore your love for AI. It focuses on creating and refining prompts to improve LMs for various applications, like Stable Diffusion, generating stunning images and digital creations with text prompts.

Now, prompt engineering can help you, even if just for a simple funny picture to show your family and friends. And there are some secret tips you can use to create better prompts and get better results. Stable Diffusion has its own secret language that you can unlock using specific keywords and phrasing. This will allow you to up your design game and get incredible results without spending a lot of time editing it.

Stable Diffusion might seem like a simple tool to use if you’ve never tried it before. But trust me, the first few times I tried to create an image, the results were quite atrocious. There was an AI generated image, but a distorted one.

The sure thing is that if you don’t know how to use text prompts, any AI design generator will be of no use to you. Prompt engineering is a serious job with serious tricks that can help you get beautiful results. Here’s how to write the text prompts that will give you the best results in Stable Diffusion and up your design game.

Play with Emotions when Writing Your Prompt

Stable Diffusion leverages built-in emotions to create visually stunning AI designs. What this means is that you can include words that express emotions in your text prompt and influence the tone of the generated image. For example, words like “exciting” and “adventurous” will produce dynamic and thrilling images, while words like “calm” and “peaceful” will generate serene and tranquil images.

This helps Stable Diffusion understand exactly the outcome that is expected from it and generate images that are in line with your expectations. So, think about the emotion you want to convey in your AI design and include appropriate words in your text prompt.

Get Specific with Colors

If you want a design with specific colors, you can use color adjectives in your text prompt. For example, if you want a design with a blue background, use words like “sky blue” or “navy blue” in your text prompt. You can also specify shades of other colors, like “lush green” or “scarlet red”. Yeah, there’s more than one type of red.

Colors set the mood for your picture. By giving Stable Diffusion a starting point, it will generate the image that sets the right mood.

Match your brand colors perfectly while using Stable Diffusion for digital art in blog posts or any content.

Use Metaphors and Comparisons

Metaphors, comparisons, or other figures of speech are powerful tools that can evoke strong imagery in your AI designs. By including metaphors in your text prompt, you can get Stable Diffusion to generate images that reflect the figurative meaning. If you use the metaphor "bursting with ideas", the generated image will feature a bursting object surrounded by related objects like a balloon or a lightbulb.

Be creative with your metaphors and comparisons, and see what visually appealing digital art you can inspire.

Imagine what an interesting AI design this phrase would generate:

“Her eyes flashed with all the excitement of a pig sneaking into a fat farm”.

Or you can just use Stable Diffusion to see the results. Trust me, it’s going to be worth it.

What about Textures?

Texture can add depth and interest to your designs. If you want your design to have a specific texture like “gritty”, “smooth” or “rustic”, include adjectives that describe textures in your text prompt. This will help Stable Diffusion generate images with textures that match your preferences.

Here is my list of descriptive words that always add an extra layer of feeling to my imagery: shiny, velvety, feathery, glossy, glam, explosive, rugged, bubbly, glowy, sparkling, wooly, crunchy, fizzy, gritty, abrasive, damp, hazy, jagged, mushy, sheer.

Feel free to add them to spice up your images.

These details will really help Stable Diffusion understand the image you have in mind and improve the quality of the generated outputs.

Experiment with Composition

The composition of the design can make a big difference in how it is perceived. To influence the composition of your design, you can use text prompts that refer to spatial relationships.

For example, if you want a design with a central focus, use words like “centered” or “symmetrical”. If you want an AI design with an asymmetrical or dynamic composition, use words like “chaotic” or “off-balance”. You can also use words like “diagonal” or “vertical” to suggest the direction of movement in the image.

And maybe even try Picassoesque compositions and have fun while at it.

Unlocking the Secret to Effective Diffusion Text Prompts: Learn from the Best!

So what would the best text prompt for Stable Diffusion look like, and what makes it special? I was as curious as you to better understand what it means to write a good prompt and, especially, what image that prompt would generate in Stable Diffusion.

I used the AIPRM Chrome plugin tool to generate a perfect text prompt that I can then use in Stable Diffusion to create the most stunning AI generated design.

Here’s what I got.

First, the prompt:

((best quality)), ((masterpiece)), ((realistic)), Imagine a breathtaking landscape with vibrant greens and golden hues. The scene is bathed in warm, ethereal light, giving it a magical ambiance. The focal point is a majestic cascading waterfall, surrounded by an enchanting forest. Thomas Moran's artistic touch brings a sense of romanticism to the piece. The painting is created using oil on canvas, and the impressionistic style captures the beauty of the scene. The colors are rich and vibrant, with earth tones dominating the palette. This masterpiece is a scenic delight, transporting the viewer to a world of natural splendor. on eye level, scenic, masterpiece.

Let’s break the prompt down a little bit and see what makes it special and why it should drive incredible results when run through Stable Diffusion.

After a simple analysis, I can already see three elements that make this text prompt effective. It has specific colors and ambiance (vibrant greens and golden hues, earth tones, magical ambiance). It conveys emotions (enchanting, romantic, scenic delight), and it incorporates composition into the design (focal point on the waterfall, on eye level).

We’ve already talked about these three elements, but this prompt has many more. You’ve probably noticed the parentheses at the beginning of the prompt. Those have a major role in setting the trajectory of what Stable Diffusion needs to focus on.

This type of parentheses ( ) tells Stable Diffusion to put emphasis on the elements between them. When using [ ] Stable Diffusion will put less emphasis on the words between the brackets. Double parentheses mean increased focus on the word.

Another major plus this prompt has is that it tells Stable Diffusion what style to use (impressionistic) and offers examples of real life artists’ styles for inspiration (Thomas Moran’s artistic touch). This restriction narrows down and clarifies the available options at Stable Diffusion's disposal.

What are the results?

Well, first let’s see what our results would look like if I only prompted Stable Diffusion to generate “an image of a waterfall landscape”. Simply because that is what I would’ve done in the first place when trying out Stable Diffusion.

Pretty nice, right? Right. But for me, it lacks feeling. This is what I would think my mom has as a background image on her computer. It simply doesn’t tell me much.

Now let’s see the results using the prompt we discussed:

For me, at least, these are some options that convey more passion and transport me to a peaceful and breathtaking place.

Final Thoughts on Stable Diffusion Prompts

Now that you know the secrets of Stable Diffusion, you can really master prompt engineering and start generating AI designs that are unique and visually appealing. By using emotions, colors, metaphors, texture, and composition, you can influence the generated images to match your preferences and convey your message effectively.

Don’t forget to really put effort into your prompts if you want results that speak your mind. A few words simply cannot encompass your whole vision of what you want to create, and Stable Diffusion will only create a generic image that lacks personality.  Refine your work and unleash your full creative potential with Stable Diffusion – the ultimate tool to enhance your capabilities! The sky's the limit. Or is it?
